A Refined I-DC5 Braking System: From Line Type to Brake Strength

Previous DC reels like the 2024 Metanium DC featured an I-DC5 system with modes based on line type (Nylon, Fluorocarbon, and PE), each offering five brake levels—technically 15 combinations. However, users often encountered confusion: for example, was the strongest Fluorocarbon mode weaker than the weakest Nylon mode? In some cases, reverse logic applied, causing frustration.

To address this, the Aldebaran DC has simplified and clarified brake settings:

• Three modes: L (Low), M (Medium), and H (High) represent pure braking strength

• Each mode offers 5 adjustable levels, for a total of 15 logically ordered settings

Now, the stronger the mode (L to H) and the higher the level (1 to 5), the stronger the brake, with no ambiguity. It provides fine control on par with Shimano’s more advanced 4×8 braking systems.

Easy External Brake Dial

Like the 2024 Metanium DC, the Aldebaran DC allows you to change brake modes without opening the reel, using an external dial. This means you can adjust settings on the fly depending on the lure weight or casting environment—on the bank, boat, or shore.
