What Changed in the 2026 BG SW?
The redesign applies elements of Daiwa's Powerdrive Design concept to a reel positioned below the Saltiga flagship. On the BG SW, the main adopted components are the Oversized Power Digigear and Crank Power Bail. The reel also receives a Powerdrive Rotor, a full-aluminum housing, ATD Tough drag, revised waterproof packing, and a new high-grip egg-shaped handle knob.
The 5000 through 14000 sizes are scheduled for October 2026, while the 20000 is scheduled for November 2026. Regional availability may differ.
Powerdrive Rotor and Oversized Gearing
The DS4 Powerdrive Rotor uses a spherical form intended to combine balance around the rotation axis with rigidity under heavy load. Its low-inertia material also supports quicker rotational response.

Inside the aluminum body, the Oversized Power Digigear has a larger diameter, greater tooth thickness, and an optimized tooth profile. The purpose is to improve drive efficiency and reduce deformation during sustained high-load retrieves.
Crank Power Bail
The wire Crank Power Bail uses an angled profile to guide tensioned line toward the roller. A strengthened spring mechanism is intended to reduce unintended bail movement during hard casting or impacts.

Full-Aluminum Body

ATD Tough Carbon Drag
ATD Tough replaces felt drag washers with carbon washers for greater durability. Maximum drag ranges from 12 kg (26.5 lb) on the 5000 and 6000 sizes, to 15 kg (33.1 lb) on the 8000 through 14000 sizes, and 20 kg (44.1 lb) on the 20000.

Waterproofing and Stopperless Construction
New waterproof packing is installed between the body and body cover. The stopperless layout also removes a potential route for water and debris, simplifying the housing and reducing the number of exterior entry points.

The manual-return system prevents the bail from closing when the handle turns. After a cast, the angler closes the bail by hand, reducing the chance of an unintended closure under the forces associated with heavy tackle.
High-Grip Egg Knob
Sizes 5000 and 6000 use the smaller HG Round Egg knob, while the 8000 through 20000 models use the larger version. The oval profile provides a broad grip surface for applying torque with wet hands.

Choosing the Right BG SW Size
5000-H
The lightest model weighs 420 g (14.8 oz), holds approximately 50 lb braid × 300 m (330 yd), and recovers 96 cm (37.8 in) per turn. It is suited to lighter shore jigging and offshore casting for small to medium pelagic fish.
6000-P and 6000-H
Both weigh 455 g (16.0 oz) and hold approximately 55 lb braid × 300 m (330 yd). The 6000-P recovers 86 cm (33.9 in) per turn for lower-geared jigging power, while the 6000-H retrieves 101 cm (39.8 in) for mixed casting and jigging.
8000-P and 8000-H
These models weigh 680 g (24.0 oz), hold approximately 60 lb braid × 300 m (330 yd), and provide 15 kg (33.1 lb) of maximum drag. Choose the 97 cm (38.2 in) P model for slower power-oriented jigging or the 113 cm (44.5 in) H model for faster line pickup.
10000-H and 14000-H
The 10000-H and 14000-H recover 121 cm (47.6 in) and 122 cm (48.0 in) per turn. Their approximate braid capacities are 80 lb × 300 m (330 yd) and 90 lb × 300 m (330 yd), respectively, supporting heavy shore and offshore casting.
20000
The largest model weighs 965 g (34.0 oz), holds approximately 130 lb braid × 300 m (330 yd), and supplies 20 kg (44.1 lb) of maximum drag. Its 137 cm (53.9 in) recovery and 85 mm (3.35 in) handle suit heavy offshore casting for tuna, giant trevally, and other big-game targets.
