The 2026 Daiwa Certate HD is not a replacement for the 2024 Certate. It is a specialized full-aluminum version for anglers who accept more rotating mass in exchange for greater rotor rigidity and stronger transmission of force under load. The standard Certate remains the lighter, quicker-response choice.

The Defining Difference Is the Rotor
Both reels use an aluminum monocoque body, an AirDrive spool and shaft, and a machine-cut Tough Digigear. The split happens above the body. Certate HD uses an aluminum AirDrive rotor, while the standard Certate uses a ZAION AirDrive rotor. Daiwa's own comparison says the HD rotor deflects about half as much under load, but is about 15 g heavier and carries about 30% more inertia.
That tradeoff is the heart of the decision. The HD should transmit force more directly during hard hooksets, powerful fights, and retrieves with high-resistance lures. The standard model should start and stop more readily, which favors frequent cadence changes and a lighter feel at the handle.
HD Adds More Than Aluminum
Daiwa also equips the HD with ATD Tough carbon drag washers, a stainless-steel drag-knob nut, a stainless-steel arm-lever shaft, a crank-shape AirDrive bail, and a redesigned Magsealed line roller. Two additional bearings support the spool shaft and drag area, raising the listed count from 10 ball bearings to 12.
The matched LT4000-CXH models retain the same gear ratio, retrieve rate, maximum drag, handle length, and listed nylon capacity. The HD therefore does not buy a faster or larger reel in this comparison; it changes how the same basic size behaves when force rises.

Choose the 2026 Certate HD If
Your fishing centers on large fish, forceful hooksets, heavy current, or lures that maintain substantial resistance. The aluminum rotor and reinforced supporting parts are aimed at situations where reduced flex matters more than minimum inertia. The HD range also starts at LT3000-class sizes, reinforcing its power-focused role.
Choose the 2024 Certate If
You want the broader and lighter platform, especially for techniques that depend on frequent starts, stops, and subtle changes in retrieve. The regular Certate extends into smaller FC and LT sizes, and its ZAION rotor preserves the low-inertia character that defines Daiwa's standard AirDrive approach.
