The long-awaited "26 Calcutta Conquest DC" has finally arrived. It fuses Shimano's long-cultivated DC brake technology with the MagnumLight Spool IV and the evolved I-DC5. This model revamps long-distance casting performance, low-trajectory casts, and operability, completely renewing the casting feel itself.
At its core is the installation of the MagnumLight Spool IV. By adopting a reverse taper shape for the spool, it achieves a well-balanced line winding shape. Winding the line in a balanced manner suppresses wobbling during rotation, drawing out the original rotational performance of the spool.
When the long-distance casting performance of the precisely electronically controlled DC brake is added to this MagnumLight Spool IV, it achieves a casting feel that extends pleasantly. It enables high castability, effortlessly handling pinpoint casts with a low trajectory.
Furthermore, compared to the 20 Calcutta Conquest DC, the spool diameter for the 100 size has been expanded from φ33 to φ34. As a result, the maximum retrieve length has improved from 58cm to 60cm for the MG, and from 70cm to 79cm for the HG.
The brake system is equipped with the latest I-DC5. Delicate adjustments are possible using only the external dial. With 15 levels of adjustment combining 3 modes—L (Low), M (Medium), and H (High)—and a 5-level brake dial, it is now possible to set the brake more broadly and finely than ever before.
Unlike conventional I-DC systems, it is not bound by line type, allowing you to directly set the optimal braking force according to the situation and target. It achieves both trouble-free stability and the pursuit of even greater flight distance.
In addition, the body has been made low-profile. It features a more compact design than the 20 Calcutta Conquest DC, with the spool positioned lower. This allows for a natural grip and reduces interference with the thumb. The degree of freedom of the wrist is increased, enabling flexible and accurate casts.
