Explanation of Import Duties for International Customers
No need to pay consumption tax to Japan
When selling products within Japan, a consumption tax of 10% (as of October 2024) is applied to the purchaser. However, at JDMREELHUB.com, we do not collect taxes from overseas customers, nor do we remit taxes to the Japanese government because the transaction between us and the overseas customer is an international transaction. Therefore, when you place an order, the invoice we send will indicate "0% tax." However, when receiving your product, you may need to pay taxes to the country where you reside. These taxes are known as customs duties and Value Added Tax (VAT), which vary by country.
Your Responsibility for Customs Tax and VAT
Your package may be subject to customs tax and VAT (Value Added Tax). These extra charges are forms of tax that are not included in our product price or shipping charge (shipping charges are included in product price on our website). They will be collected from you directly by the shipping carrier when the package is delivered, and it is your responsibility to complete this payment in order to receive your order. Additionally, in some countries, your government may allow postal services or couriers to charge additional administrative fees to cover the cost of customs clearance.
As tax policies differ from country to country, it is not possible for us to determine the exact amount that may be charged for customs or VAT. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with your country’s customs policy before placing an order.
Examples of VAT Rates in Various Countries
Some countries charge customs duties or VAT on most packages arriving from overseas, while others may only collect these fees on a small percentage of shipments. Here are some approximate rates of VAT in different countries that you may encounter:
- France: 20%
- Germany: 19%
- UK: 20%
- Netherlands: 21%
- Italy: 21%
- Mexico: 16%
- Canada: 5%
- Thailand: 7%
- Switzerland: 7.6%
- Australia: 10%
- Spain: 21%
- Finland: 23%
- Sweden: 25%
- Denmark: 25%
- Norway: 25%
Customs Charges and VAT Exemptions
In some cases, packages may be exempt from customs fees if the value of the items is less than a certain threshold.
For example, in the United States, import taxes may be applied to purchases that exceed $800, while in countries like Singapore and Australia, the limit is generally around $500. All import duties and taxes will be collected by the shipping carrier on behalf of your country’s authorities.
Accurate Declaration and Customs Procedures
To ensure your package moves smoothly through customs without delays or problems, we are required to declare the accurate value of the items based on the prices paid by the customer. We cannot undervalue your order or mark it as a gift. Please do not request us to adjust the value on the customs declaration, as this is prohibited by law.
Customs offices may randomly apply customs charges on arriving parcels, so it’s difficult for us to predict or control this process. Once again, please make sure to check your country’s customs policies before placing your order.
Important Customs Information and Guidelines
Lastly, please make sure to check the customs duties applicable in your country before confirming your order. This is the most reliable and accurate method for understanding potential charges. We do not accept cancellations of orders due to refusal to pay customs duties, so please be aware of this. Again, we cannot declare a lower value for the contents of the package, label items as gifts, or state different descriptions for the contents, as these actions are prohibited by law. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we appreciate your understanding as we strive to comply with the law and provide you with proper service. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you.
