“HAGANE”
“HAGANE” is more than just a material name; it’s a design philosophy centered around creating reels that offer unmatched longevity and smoothness. The term "HAGANE" itself, which means "steel" in Japanese, symbolizes strength and resilience. However, in Shimano's context, it transcends traditional interpretations, representing a suite of advanced technologies aimed at enhancing performance and durability. In other words, when they say "HAGANE", they do not actually mean that HAGANE(= steel) is used. “HAGANE” promises robustness that can be used with peace of mind even in the harshest of conditions, an unchanging, exquisite winding feel, and winding power that exceeds the imagination."HAGANE Gear" or "HAGANE Body" is Shimano's engineering concept and philosophy.
X-SHIP
X-SHIP features an enlarged drive gear, optimal positioning of the pinion and drive gears, and two-point support for the pinion gear with bearings. This robust gear engagement maintains smooth and efficient reeling even under heavy loads.
FTB (Finess Tune Brake System)
FTB (Finess Tune Brake System) is Shimano's innovative brake system designed to enhance casting performance with lightweight lures. Traditionally, spool weight reduction was achieved through methods like blanking, but the presence of a brake unit on the spool limited how light it could be. Shimano's FTB system removes the brake unit from the spool entirely, resulting in the lightest spool ever developed in Shimano's bait finesse reel history.
The FTB uses a magnetic braking system, where the magnets apply braking force directly to the spool. It consists of six magnets by default, but it can be increased to eight magnets with the included attachments. This allows for better casting stability with lures that have high air resistance or in strong wind conditions. Additionally, the FTB features a magnet movement mechanism that adjusts the magnets' positions according to the spool's rotational speed. This gives the FTB similar braking characteristics to a centrifugal brake, providing strong braking at the start of the cast and extended distance towards the end.
EXCITING DRAG SOUND
EXCITING DRAG SOUND is a feature that produces a sound when the line is pulled out from the spool by a fish. Unlike traditional baitcasting reels, which typically do not emit a drag sound, this feature enhances the angler's experience by stimulating their senses, making the fight with the fish even more enjoyable.
S3D SPOOL
The S3D SPOOL features an entirely redesigned cutting method, significantly enhancing the spool's precision. As a result, this design improves the smoothness and reduces vibrations during casting, leading to a quieter and more stable performance.
SA-RB
A-RB bearings feature a special anti-corrosion treatment that significantly improves their rust resistance. The SA-RB takes this further by sealing the sides with anti-corrosion materials, greatly reducing salt crystallization and salt damage inside the bearing.
SUPER FREE SPOOL
SUPER FREE SPOOL is a system where the spool shaft is supported by only two bearings when the reel's clutch is disengaged. This design minimizes spool wobble and eliminates rotational resistance, allowing for exceptionally smooth and light spool free performance.
