The 2026 Shimano BeastMaster 3000II is a Japan-market 3000-size electric reel built around a mechanical two-speed drivetrain. It combines a high-speed range for rapid rig recovery with a power range for sustained heavy-load winding, while retaining manual and automated electric-jigging controls.

What Defines the BeastMaster 3000II?

The core update is Shimano's first mechanical 2-Speed System for an electric reel. The Speed Range is rated for a maximum winding speed of 215 m/min (235 yd/min). The Power Range is rated for 25 kg (55.1 lb) of practical winding endurance. A shift lever changes the gear range while the motor continues running.

The reel also lists 25 kg (55.1 lb) of maximum drag, a HAGANE Body, reinforced gear system, GIGA-MAX brushless motor, Tankenmaru Screen compatibility, and three types of electric-jigging control.

Mechanical 2-Speed System

The two ranges separate speed-oriented and load-oriented duties. Shimano lists the Speed Range at 9 kg (19.8 lb) of practical winding endurance and up to 215 m/min (235 yd/min). The Power Range raises practical winding endurance to 25 kg (55.1 lb), with a listed maximum speed of 64 m/min (70 yd/min).

The mechanical shift means the motor does not need to stop when changing from Speed Range to Power Range. Speed Range is intended for fast retrieval and lighter working loads; Power Range is intended for situations where sustained pulling force is the priority.

Drag, Gear Support, and Motor

Maximum drag and Power Range winding endurance are both listed at 25 kg (55.1 lb). The reinforced gear system uses ball-bearing support on reduction gears, while the HAGANE Body provides the rigid housing around the drivetrain. The specification lists 24 ball bearings and 2 roller bearings.

The GIGA-MAX Motor is a brushless design intended to maintain performance under heat while reducing wear associated with motor brushes. Shimano recommends a high-capacity external battery and notes that the reel itself does not contain a lithium battery.

Tankenmaru Screen and Display Functions

The color Tankenmaru Screen can show bottom depth, bottom contour, fish-school information, and rig position when used with a compatible boat-mounted Tankenmaru system. ACCU-FISH data and fish-school depth require a compatible parent unit. Shimano also notes that some 2008-era Tankenmaru units within a specified serial-number range may not communicate with this reel.

Tankenmaru Scale presents simplified bottom-shape and depth information. These functions depend on the electronics installed on the boat, so display availability is not determined by the reel alone.

Electric Jigging Modes

The Advanced EJ Mode provides High, Medium, and Low jerk-strength patterns. Manual Jerk Mode powers the reel while the PICK UP button is held. Auto Jerk Mode allows separate settings for winding speed, movement time, and stop time.

All three EJ modes support One-Pitch Distance Display, which shows the distance recovered during each powered jerk. The Motor-and-Clutch Linkage stops the motor when the clutch is disengaged and resumes powered winding when the clutch is re-engaged.

Mechanical Brake and Fall Control

The mechanical brake is rated at 1 kg (2.2 lb) of braking force. It adds spool resistance during the drop, allowing the angler to moderate fall speed and reduce overrun risk with heavy rigs. Shimano states that this resistance applies to manual handle rotation but does not add the same load during motorized retrieval.

Line Capacity Without Japan-Specific Sizes

Official capacity is originally published using Japan-specific nominal line sizes. For clarity, the tables below convert fluorocarbon and braid to approximate breaking strength in pounds. Actual strength and diameter vary by manufacturer and construction, so these figures should be treated as practical equivalents rather than universal standards.

Converted fluorocarbon capacity is approximately 20 lb × 420 m, 22 lb × 350 m, 25 lb × 300 m, and 30 lb × 240 m. Converted braid capacity is approximately 60 lb × 470 m, 80 lb × 350 m, 90 lb × 300 m, and 100 lb × 200 m.

Where the 3000II Fits

The BeastMaster 3000II is designed for anglers who need both fast powered retrieval and a separate high-load range in a 3000-size electric reel. Its combination of two-speed gearing, 25 kg (55.1 lb) maximum drag, electric-jigging controls, and compatible sonar information makes it suited to deep-water bait fishing, heavy multi-hook rigs, and electric jigging where the boat's power and electronics support the required system.

This is a Japan-market electric product. Electrical, electromagnetic, radio, and technical-certification rules may restrict use or sale in other regions. Confirm local compatibility before operation.
