Shimano introduced the updated Soare BB in Japan in July 2026 as a three-model spinning-reel lineup for light-saltwater fishing. The range covers a compact 500-size reel and two C2000-size options, with gearing intended for controlled retrieves or faster line pickup.

What Changed for the 2026 Soare BB?
The update adds several technologies previously associated with higher-tier Shimano spinning reels. The C2000 models gain MicroModule Gear II, InfinityXross, Silent Drive, Anti-Twist Fin, and a long-stroke spool. Infinity Drive is used across the lineup, while the 500SPG follows a simplified specification in several areas.
Shimano also changed the main-shaft material from stainless steel to aluminum, reducing listed weight by 5 g (0.18 oz) compared with the previous C2000SSPG. The current C2000SSPG is listed at 180 g (6.3 oz), versus 185 g (6.5 oz) for the prior model.

Drive System: Smoother Rotation and Wider Gear Contact
MicroModule Gear II refines the tooth-surface design to reduce gear noise and support smoother meshing. Silent Drive addresses small clearances and movement across the drivetrain, including the drive gear and oscillation components. Both technologies are fitted to the C2000SSPG and C2000SSHG, but not the 500SPG.

InfinityXross increases the contact area between drive-gear and pinion-gear teeth so load is distributed over a broader surface. Shimano states that this improves gear durability in its comparative testing. This feature is included on the two C2000 models and excluded from the 500SPG.

Infinity Drive changes how the main shaft is supported and applies a low-friction surface treatment to reduce sliding resistance. Its purpose is to reduce rotational torque under load, which can help the reel maintain winding performance when resistance increases.

Line Control for Lightweight Rigs
A one-piece bail gives the line a continuous path toward the roller without a joint or step. The C2000 models also add Anti-Twist Fin near the line roller. The flexible fin controls slack as line is retrieved, reducing the chance of loose line dropping below the spool or being wound while twisted.

All three models use an AR-C spool profile. The C2000 reels also use a long-stroke spool, which slows the reduction in wound-line diameter during the later stage of a cast. The 500SPG does not use the long-stroke design.
High-Response Drag for Light Line
Each model uses Shimano's High-Response Drag. The mechanism is designed to begin releasing line with a smaller change in tension when a fish accelerates. In Shimano's comparison, the C2000SSPG showed a 30% increase in drag force when line was pulled quickly, compared with 90% for the referenced versatile-drag reel. These figures come from Shimano's own comparative test and should not be treated as a universal measurement across every setup.

Practical drag is listed at 1 kg (2.2 lb), with a maximum of 3 kg (6.6 lb), across all three models. The setting and the line's actual breaking strength remain important when using very light nylon, fluorocarbon, or braid.
Which 2026 Soare BB Model Fits Your Fishing?
500SPG: Compact Super-Finesse Option
The 500SPG is the lightest model at 150 g (5.3 oz). Its 4.7:1 gearing retrieves 58 cm (22.8 in) per handle turn. The compact body and lower line capacity suit short-range work with very light rigs, especially when low weight is the priority.
C2000SSPG: Controlled-Retrieve All-Rounder
The C2000SSPG weighs 180 g (6.3 oz) and uses a 4.4:1 ratio, recovering 59 cm (23.2 in) per turn. Its shallow spool and measured retrieve rate make it the neutral choice for maintaining a consistent speed across common light-saltwater presentations.
C2000SSHG: Faster Line Pickup
The C2000SSHG shares the C2000SSPG's weight, spool, drag, and line capacity, but changes to a 6.0:1 ratio and retrieves 81 cm (31.9 in) per turn. That higher recovery rate is useful when collecting slack quickly, working in current, or applying faster lure movements.
All models use a 45 mm (1.77 in) handle. The 500SPG uses a small lightweight I-shaped knob, while the C2000 models use a thin lightweight I-shaped knob intended to provide more fingertip contact.
